Our Lawyers

I am Rain Henderson. I am a founding partner in the firm of Henderson Heinrichs and have been practicing family law since my call to the Bar in 1992. I attended the University of Alberta for my Bachelor of Science degree and the University of British Columbia for my Bachelor of Laws. I then articled at Russell and DuMoulin, now Fasken Marteneau LLP, one of the preeminent law firms in Vancouver. I have been a family lawyer since day one.

I started in the trenches doing legal aid. In 1995, I moved to a small downtown family law firm and really began to learn my craft. I also met my partner, Kevin Heinrichs. In 1997, Kevin and I decided that we had an opportunity to establish our own firm that would be exclusively family law. Henderson Heinrichs was started as a two lawyer firm with one overworked secretary.

Our firm has now grown to include four associate lawyers that we carefully selected to ensure that they share the same dedication and commitment that we have, both to our clients and to the practice of family law. We have a formidable team that will work for you to get you the best result possible. My practice continues to be a litigation based practice however, I have broadened my experience by becoming a Family Law Mediator.

I see benefit in mediation when the power imbalance in a relationship can be minimized and each party comes to the table armed with the strength to work on a fair and equitable settlement. I see great benefit in mediating custody disputes as leaving a decision about the welfare of your child to a judge should be used only when the power imbalance cannot be removed, or when all other options have failed.

Going through a separation or divorce is one of the most stressful experiences in one’s life. We recognize this and we are committed as a firm to get you through this process in the best way possible.
